TUNIS, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Minister of Communications Technology and Digital Economy Mouhamed Anouar Maarouf on Friday hailed China's efforts to support Tunisia in cultivating information and communications technology (ICT) talents.

The official's remarks came during a ceremony held in Tunis, capital of Tunisia that witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the ministry and Huawei, a Chinese electronics giant.

For the next three years, ten university students from Tunisia will receive ICT intensive training of Huawei-funded digital skills development program in China each year.

"This program is important because it targets Tunisian student elite and helps them develop potential in new technologies," said Maarouf, "Under the cooperation between China and Tunisia, our students will transfer the new technology to Tunisia."

"These students will also contribute to promoting the partnership between Chinese and Tunisian enterprises in technological fields," said Maarouf.

Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Wang Wenbin said that "the cooperation between China and Tunisia has a bright future. Chinese companies based in Tunisia are engaging in a mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation. "

"The companies would strengthen partnership, in coordination with their Tunisian partners, to create more jobs, and contribute more to the socio-economic development in Tunisia," said Wang Wenbin.

Initiated by Huawei in 2015, the Tunisia ICT talent program, known as "Seeds for the Future," aims to discover local ICT talents as well as to promote youths' interest in the ICT sector.
