MOSCOW, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The leaders of the armed groups in the Syrian province of Deraa have reached an agreement on a ceasefire, Russian media reported Saturday, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Agreements were reached...on the following issues: cessation of hostilities, start of turning in heavy and medium weapons in all settlements under the control of armed groups," the ministry said in a statement.

The parties also agreed on regulating of the status of militants, resuming work of the Syrian authorities in the settlements and facilitating the return of the Syrian refugees to their homes from the border with Jordan, the statement said.
