    NEW DELHI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and congratulated him for his party emerging as the largest political party in the National Assembly of Pakistan in the just-concluded general elections, official sources said Monday.

    According to the sources, during the telephonic conversation with Khan, Modi hoped that democracy will flourish in Pakistan and peace will be there in the entire neighbourhood.

    "Prime Minister spoke to Imran Khan, chairperson of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party and congratulated him for his party emerging as the largest political party in the National Assembly of Pakistan in the recently conducted general elections," said an official statement issued late on Monday evening.

    It added "Prime Minister (Modi) expressed hope that democracy will take deeper roots in Pakistan. Prime Minister also reiterated his vision of peace and development in the entire neighborhood."
