VITEBSK, Belarus, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The 34th International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar" kicked off in Vitebsk of Belarus on Thursday, bring together prominent performers, artists and creative groups from all over the world.
In a speech at the official ceremony, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko emphasized the importance of preserving and developing Slavic culture, highlighting the festival's role as a platform for international cultural dialogue.
The "Slavianski Bazaar" is not only a celebration of arts but also a symbol of unity and cooperation among Slavic peoples, the president said.
In today's rapidly changing world, it is crucial to maintain the Belarusian cultural heritage and foster mutual understanding, he added.
The festival serves as a bridge connecting traditions and innovations, bringing together artists and audiences from different countries, Lukashenko said.
The festival will last till July 14, delighting guests with a diverse program of concerts, exhibitions and creative meetings. ■
