KIEV, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's defense ministry said Thursday that it has disabled a Russian Black Sea Fleet vessel in a drone strike.

The ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate said in a statement that its special forces carried out the attack on Wednesday.

In the strike by a Ukrainian-made combat drone, the MPSV07 multipurpose salvage ship was tracked and hit when conducting reconnaissance and patrolling operations near the Russian port of Novorossiysk, it said.

The statement said the strike destroyed the Russian vessel's control bridge that hosts the navigation and communication equipment.

The MPSV07 ship is worth about 60 million U.S. dollars and was commissioned into service in 2015, it added. ■
