WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States does not want to talk to the Taliban right now when asked about the U.S. response to the deadly attacks in Afghanistan recently.

Trump said at a lunch with UN Security Council ambassadors that the group would discuss what more can be done to defeat the Taliban.

"They're killing people left and right. Innocent people are being killed left and right, bombing in the middle of children, in the middle of families, bombing, killing all over Afghanistan. So we don't want to talk with the Taliban. There may be a time, but it's going to be a long time," he noted.

Eleven army soldiers and four assailants were killed Monday after gunmen attacked an army camp in western Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, the seventh major attack in the country this month.

Two days ago, a massive car bombing in central Kabul have killed about 103 people and injured 235, making it the deadliest attack in months.
