TEHRAN, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Tehran Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said Tuesday that Iranian security forces have arrested suspects in Monday's unrest in the Grand Bazaar.

Dolatabadi said the unrest led to the closure of the businesses in the bazaar in the Iranian capital, adding that the suspects will remain in custody until trial.

Shops in the bazaar closed their doors on Monday to protest against the soaring prices and unstable currency rate. The protests then spread to the adjacent streets.

In parts of downtown Tehran on Tuesday, some businesses remained closed and sporadic protests were reported.

Ahmad Karimi Esfahani, secretary general of the Islamic Society of Tehran Guilds and Bazaar, said that people's rightful economic demands should be met.

Esfahani added that President Hassan Rouhani's administration is "completely ineffective" in the economic sector.

On Dec. 31 last year, at least 10 people were killed in Iran's unrest caused by the deteriorating economic situation.

The United States has threatened to impose the "toughest sanctions" on Tehran if the Islamic republic does not agree to renegotiate the 2015 international nuclear deal.
