LONDON, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Two people have been killed as storm Ali hits Ireland and parts of Britain Wednesday.

The storm brings winds of up to 100mph to parts of the British Isles, leaving thousands of households out of power.

Local media reported that a woman was killed as her caravan was blown off a cliff in the west of Ireland during the storm. Her body was found on a beach at Claddaghduff in County Galway on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, a man in his twenties died in Northern Ireland when he was struck by a falling tree. The incident left another man in his forties injured.

Ali batters Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England, with amber weather warnings remaining in place.

Forecasters have warned that flying debris could pose a risk to life.

In Scotland, winds of more than 90mph were recorded and a cruise ship was detached from its moorings.

Rail, roads and ferry services have all been affected by the severe weather, while tens of thousands of homes and businesses were cut off power across Britain.
